Summer wedding guide image

The Style Doctor has teamed up with Your Closet Hire, an online dress hire business, to create a guide as to what to wear to your next Summer wedding.  Every wedding you go to is in a different location with a different dress code so we have picked out a few pieces that will help you decide what to wear.

For those of you that don’t know Your Closet Hire, it’s an amazing business that was set up by Briella Brown in 2013.  Your Closet Hire was launched after Briella noticed the way fashion was being consumed, that is women would usually spend a small fortune on a dress only to be worn once because either it didn't feel special anymore or had already been shared on social media. Your Closet started with just a handful of designers including Alex Perry, Camilla, Camilla & Marc and Christopher Esber and has since expanded the designer range to over 1000 designer dresses and accessories in sizes 6-18. The best part about Your Closet is you can now try before you hire in their retail store in Brookvale, or if you can’t make it in you can choose a couple of options online and return the one that you don’t wear to get a store credit.  The best part is all Style Doctor patients receive 20% off their hire by entering the code: STYLEDOC

I went in to Your Closet last week to choose a few options to show you some great options for different weddings.  I chose options that suit my shape, colouring and the dress code but there is the lovely Catherine in store who can also help you.

Beach Wedding

This beautiful Camilla and Marc maxi is perfect for a beach wedding because you can be barefoot on the beach and no one would know and you can then put your heels on for the reception.  The light flowy fabric will allow you to stay cool on a hot day and will look stunning on any beach.

For styling I kept it simple because the print on the dress was so beautiful and chose diamond stud earrings and a Hermes bracelet.

For Hair Justine from Beyond Hair by Justine created a beachy look with the hair down.

For makeup Jules Cachia created a natural “day” look which would look great on the beach but would also take you into the night.

Garden Wedding

We all know the cardinal sin of never wearing white to a wedding, however, when there is a print or colour on the dress it is acceptable.  I love this Camilla and Marc dress because the floral placement print works perfectly in a garden setting.

For styling I wore nude heels by Nude Footwear, a clutch from The Daily Edited, diamond stud earrings and a Hermes Cuff.

For hair Justine created another down style with softer curls to tie in with the look.

For makeup, Jules created a soft natural look with pink lips which tied in perfectly with the dress and the accessories.

Cocktail Wedding

For the cocktail look, I chose a red Nicholas dress as it works well for an evening look.  Whatever the venue, this is a fabulous dress to sip champagne and dance the night away.

For styling I opted for edgier accessories to tie in with the dress and I love red and gold together.  I am wearing Christie Nicolaides star earrings, YSL pumps and bag, and a cocktail ring from Secrets Shhh.

For Hair Justine wanted to create an edgy updo which didn’t look too done.

For Makeup Jules intensified the eyes more and did a red lip to tie in with the dress.

Black Tie

Technically Black Tie means a full-length gown however this has somewhat been relaxed over time in Australia.  Some brides want their guests in full length and others chose Black tie more so the men are all in tuxedos and bow ties and are happy for the women to wear short or long dresses.

I opted for a traditional Black Tie option and chose this stunning Camilla and Marc dress.  The draped fabric falls so beautifully which means you could eat that extra piece of cake and no one would know.

Since it’s an evening look, I chose dressy earrings from F + H Jewellery, a Chanel handbag and YSL pumps.

For the Hair, Justine created a softer updo which tied in with the dress beautifully.

For the makeup, similar to the cocktail look Jules intensified the eyes and did a red lip for a pop of colour.
